Do I need to be registered for GST, EHT, WSIB, PST and Employee Source Deductions?
For GST, unless your total gross revenue is less than $30,000 per year, you need to register. You then will need to charge GST and remit it to the government. Use the link below to get more info
For EHT, you should register, however, if your total salary and wages are less than $400,000 per year you don't pay any amount because there is an exemption provided. BUT there is a catch. This exemption is for all associated companies that you might have. Go to the link below for the complete details. You will need Adobe's Acrobat reader to view the page.
For WSIB, most businesses need to register and remit payment. See the link below for more detail
For PST, it depends on if you are providing a taxable product or service. The PST link below will give you more information
For source deductions, you do need to register and remit. Go to the Payroll and Source deductions link for more help. And if you think you can get around having employees by putting them on contract, think again. Canada Revenue Agency know the tricks. So keep it right. Click on this link Employee? to find out the inside scoop on how to tell if the people working for you are employees or not
And as always, we can help you, please call or email.
